Persian Cat
It's a persian cat. its soooo puffy :) persian cats are beautiful. here is a wikipedia info about persian cat:
The
Persian is a long-haired breed of
cat characterized by its round face and shortened muzzle. Its name refers to Persia, the former name of
Iran, where similar cats are found. Recognized by the
cat fancy since the late 19th century, it was developed first by the English, and then mainly by American breeders after the
Second World War. In Britain, it is called the
Longhair or
Persian Longhair. The
selective breeding carried out by breeders has allowed the development of a wide variety of coat colors, but has also led to the creation of increasingly
flat-faced Persians. Favored by fanciers, this head structure can bring with it a number of health problems. As is the case with the
Siamese breed, there have been efforts by some breeders to preserve the older type of cat, the
traditional breed, having a more pronounced muzzle, which is more popular with the general public. Hereditary
polycystic kidney disease is prevalent in the breed, affecting almost half the population in some countries.
The placid and unpretentious nature of the Persian confers a propensity for apartment living. It has been the most popular breed in the United States for many years but its popularity has seen a decline in Britain and France.
Russian Blue
It's a russian blue. these cats are very familiar. i had one one year ago but now... my russian blue has given a person. here is a wikipedia info about russian blue:
The Russian Blue has bright green eyes, two layers of short thick fur, and a blue-gray coat. The color is a bluish-gray that is the dilute expression of the black gene. However as dilute genes are recessive and each parent will have a set of two recessive genes two Russian Blues will always produce a blue cat. The coat is known as a "double coat," with the
undercoat being soft, downy, and equal in length to the
guard hairs, which are an even blue with silver tips. The tail, however, has very dull, almost unnoticeable stripes. Only Russian Blues and the French
Chartreuxhave this type of coat, which is described as thick and soft to the touch. The silver tips give the coat a shimmering appearance. Its eyes are almost always a dark and vivid green. Any white patches of fur or yellow eyes in adulthood are seen as faults in show cats.
Russian Blues should not be confused with British Blues (which are not a distinct breed but rather a
British Shorthair with a blue coat; the British Shorthair breed itself comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns), nor the
Chartreux or
Korat which are two other naturally occurring breeds of blue cats, although they have similar traits.
Sphynx Cat
It's a sphynx cat. they are soooo ugly but they are so pretty too :) here is an info from wikipedia about sphynx cats:
The contemporary breed of Sphynx is known also as the
Canadian Sphynx, which is distinct from the Russian Sphynx breeds like
Peterbald and
Don Sphynx.
Lack of coat makes the cat quite warm to the touch. Whiskers and eyebrows may be present, either whole or broken, or may be totally absent. The skin is the color their fur would be, and all the usual cat marking patterns (solid, point, van, tabby, tortie, etc.) may be found on Sphynx skin.
Sphynxes generally have wedge-shaped heads and sturdy, heavy bodies. Standards call for a full round abdomen, also known as
pot bellies.
Sphynxes are known for their extroverted behavior. They display a high level of energy, intelligence, curiosity, and affection for their owners.
Siamese Cat
Yes! You are right. grumpy cat looks like a siamese cat. They are not grumpy at all :) here is an info about siamese cat from wikipedia:
The Thai or traditional Siamese shares some features with the Modern Siamese (e.g., the color pattern and the short single coat, although not so short and "painted on" as the modern) but differs from it in head and body type. It has a "foreign" type (rather elongated, high on the legs, lithe but substantial, with medium boning) not an "oriental" type as in the modern Siamese and Oriental breeds and it has a modified wedge head, with rounded cheeks from which project a wedge-shaped muzzle (or "marten face" as it was called in 19th-century descriptions). The ears are moderately large and higher than those of the modern Siamese. The eyes are medium to slightly large, a full almond shape but not extremely "oriental".
The breed standard of the Modern Siamese indicates an elegant, slim, stylish, flexible, and well-muscled body. Its head is triangular, with fine muzzle.
The eyes are almond-shaped and light blue ( a feature found only in purebreds), with large wide-based ears positioned more towards the side of the head. This positioning should form a perfect triangle from the tip of the nose to each tip of the ear. It has a long elegant neck and body and a wispy slender tail. The fur is short, glossy, fine, soft, tight, and adheres to the body with no undercoat. The Siamese is characterized by its typical pointed color scheme.
The
pointed pattern [1] is a form of partial
albinism, resulting from a mutation in
tyrosinase, an
enzyme involved in
melanin production. The mutated enzyme is heat-sensitive; it fails to work at normal
body temperatures, but becomes active in cooler areas of the skin.
[11] This results in dark colouration in the coolest parts of the cat's body, including the extremities and the face, which is cooled by the passage of air through the
sinuses. All Siamese
kittens, although pure cream or white at birth, develop visible points in the first few months of life in colder parts of their body. By the time a kitten is four weeks old, the points should be sufficiently clearly distinguishable to recognise which colour they are. Siamese cats tend to darken with age, and generally, adult Siamese living in warm climates have lighter coats than those in cool climates. Originally the vast majority of Siamese had
seal (extremely dark brown, almost black) points, but occasionally Siamese were born with
blue (a cool grey) points, genetically a dilution of seal point;
chocolate (lighter brown) points, a genetic variation of seal point; or
lilac (pale warm gray) points, genetically a diluted chocolate. These colours were at first considered "inferior" seal points, and were not qualified for showing or breeding. All of these shades were eventually accepted by the breed associations, and became more common through breeding programmes specifically aimed at producing these colours. Later, outcrosses with other breeds developed Siamese-mix cats with points in other cat colours and patterns including Red and Cream point, lynx (tabby) point, and
tortoise-shell ("tortie") point.
In the
United Kingdom, all pointed Siamese-style cats are considered part of the Siamese breed. In the
United States, the major cat registry, the
Cat Fanciers' Association, considers only the four original colourations as Siamese: seal point, blue point, chocolate point, and lilac point.
Oriental cats with colourpoints in colours or patterns aside from these four are considered
Colorpoint Shorthairs in the American cat fancy.
Many Siamese cats from Thailand had a kink in their tails but over the years, this trait has been considered a flaw and breeders have largely eradicated it, although it persists among street cats in Thailand.
Turkish Van

The
Turkish Van is a longhaired
breed of
domestic cat with genetic origins in
Turkey. The breed is commonly believed to be descended from the
landrace of
Van cats, mostly found near
Lake Van, though one of the two original breeders has stated that none of the original cats used to found the formal breed came from the Van area. The breed is thought to be rare, and is distinguished by the
Van colour pattern, where the colour is restricted to the head and the tail, and the rest of the cat is white; this is due to the expression of the
piebald white spotting gene, a type of partial
leucism. A Van may have blue or amber eyes, or be
odd-eyed, having one eye of each colour. The Turkish Van is nicknamed the
swimming cat, but the idea that the breed likes water more than other cats may be mistaken. The breed was
developed in Britain from a selection of
Van cats obtained that came from various cities of
Turkey. It was first recognised by a breeder/fancier organisation, the UK-based
Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF), in 1969. The term "
Turkish Vankedisi" is used by some organisations as a name for all-white specimens of the formal Turkish Van breed, and is easily confused with the landrace Van cat, the Turkish name of which is
Van kedisi.
Exotic Shorthair

The
Exotic Shorthair is a breed of cat developed to be a shorthaired version of the
Persian. The Exotic Shorthair is similar to the Persian in many ways, including temperament and conformation, with the exception of the short dense coat. It has even inherited much of the Persian's health problems.
The Persian was used as an
outcross secretly by some
American Shorthair (ASH) breeders in the late 1950s to "improve" their breed. The hybrid look gained recognition in the show ring but other breeders unhappy with the changes successfully pushed for new breed standards that would disqualify ASH that showed signs of hybridization. One ASH breeder who saw the potential of the Persian/ASH cross proposed and eventually managed to get the
Cat Fanciers' Association to recognize them as a new breed in 1966, under the name Exotic Shorthair. During the breeding program, crosses were also made with the
Russian Blue and the
Burmese. Since 1987, the only allowable outcross breed is the Persian. The
Fédération Internationale Féline recognized the Exotic Shorthair in 1986.
Because of the regular use of Persians as outcrosses, some Exotics may carry a copy of the recessive longhair gene. When two such cats mate, there is a one in four chance of each offspring being longhaired. Ironically, longhaired Exotics are not considered Persians by CFA, although
The International Cat Association accepts them as Persians. Other associations register them as a separate Exotic Longhair breed.
